ONE HUNDRED NINETY SEVEN

Part of the HOOPLA collection, this wearable sculpture is Perrin Marie’s response to a Forbes article titled,
“These 197 Terms May Trigger Reviews Of Your NIH, NSF Grant Proposals,”
which warns that including certain language in proposals could lead to the denial or withdrawal of federal funding.

Even the title is jarring.
As Perrin read through the 197 “trigger” terms, she realized something deeper:
These words describe the people she loves.

So, the artist created a skirt that speaks for her.
Because when they say hush, we say HOOPLA!
